The two are getting their very own MTV dating show titled Double Shot at Love with DJ Pauly D & Vinny. The new were announced by the network Friday. The reality TV dating series will see 20 contestants as they fight to win the hearts of the reality TV stars.

“Excited to announce me and my boyfriend @djpaulyd are getting our own crazy reality dating competition show! This is gonna be good…” Vinny wrote on Instagram. “A crazy dating competition show,” he added on Twitter. “What could go wrong?” Pauly simply wrote, “Oh Yeahhhhh Dating Show Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!”

“I have chosen not to join the show this season because I am at a completely different place in my life right now focusing on my businesses and relationship,” Sammi wrote in a statement posted on her Instagram profile. “I am not the same person as I was when I was 22. At 31, I am currently extremely happy in every aspect of my life and want to avoid potentially TOXIC SITUATIONS.”

Still, the 31-year-old admitted that it was a hard decision and stated that she is grateful for everything Jersey Shore brought her.

“However, it was a difficult decision as I love my roomies,” she explained. “I’ve decided to focus on me, my future, and what truly makes me happy. I will forever be grateful to Jersey Shore and everything it has brought to me! I’ve just decided to live my life for me these days.” You can read the full statement below.

Unlike some other similar shows, Jersey Shore was an instant success for MTV, drawing millions of people. The reality show peaked in its third season when close to 9 million people watched the season’s first episode.

Following the success of Jersey Shore, MTV has produced various remakes including Geordie Shore which is set in the United Kingdom and Gandía Shore, set in Spain. Also, some of the cast members received their own spin-off shows. The Pauly D Project focused on Delvecchio and his attempt to make a DJ career in Las Vegas. The show was canceled after one season like Vinny Guadagnino’s talks show titled The Show with Vinny. Snooki & Jwoww spin-off had better luck, running for four seasons and followed Polizzi and Farley as roommates.

Those of us who were college-aged during the debut of Jersey Shore remember the show’s strangely well-timed alignment with our own personal goals. MTV’s wildly successful reality show is making its triumphant return to television this summer.

On August 20, chronicles of the gang’s adventures will air on E! in a special called Reunion Road Trip: Return To The Jersey Shore. 

Snooki, Pauly D, JWoww, The Situation, and Sammi Sweetheart will join up for an all-around lovefest in which they’ll catch up about their careers, relationships, and lives since Jersey Shore.

Admittedly, it’s a bit hilarious to see the group banded together just short of 10 years later. They look older, even a bit more predictable, maybe settled down in a way.

“We always said that we would take a nice vacation with each other,” JWoww told E!, “for like 10 to 14 days. Nothing more because we’d end up killing each other.”

The original Jersey Shore aired on MTV for six seasons from 2009 to 2012, but the network isn’t a part of the reunion program, nor is the original setting. Some filming took place in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and one local restaurant denied crews permission to film. Seaside Heights, where Jersey Shore was originally filmed, also rejected the new project.

Snooki and JWoww are actually both married with children these days, and that’s understandably calmed them down. The other cast members are also in serious relationships.

“I’m old now,” JWoww admitted. “I can’t handle a hangover like I did.”

Here’s hoping they have some sort of antics planned in order to fill that Snooki-sized hole in our fist-pump-loving hearts.
