One of the most popular reality shows, MTV’s Jersey Shore, is back! Yes, be prepared for tan bodies and lots of drama. The show’s revival, titled Jersey Shore: Family Vacation will begin airing at some point in 2018.
The members of the cast that are set to return are Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,” Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. It looks like the reunion will be short of Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola since she was not mentioned by MTV as a returning cast member.
Previously, a TV special Jersey Shore: Reunion Road Trip aired on E! in August 2017, giving updates on the whereabouts of the cast members.
Jersey Shore originally aired for 6 seasons, from 2009 to 2012. The premise was simple and seen many times before. Put a group of people in a house, and see what happens. Unlike some other similar shows, Jersey Shore was an instant success for MTV, drawing millions of people. The reality show peaked in its third season when close to 9 million people watched the season’s first episode.
Following the success of Jersey Shore, MTV has produced various remakes including Geordie Shore which is set in the United Kingdom and Gandía Shore, set in Spain. Also, some of the cast members received their own spin-off shows. The Pauly D Project focused on Delvecchio and his attempt to make a DJ career in Las Vegas. The show was canceled after one season like Vinny Guadagnino’s talks show titled The Show with Vinny. Snooki & Jwoww spin-off had better luck, running for four seasons and followed Polizzi and Farley as roommates.
