]]>The official synopsis describes Mothers’ Instinct as an unnerving psychological thriller about two best friends and neighbors, Alice (Chastain) and Céline (Hathaway). Their perfect lives in ‘60s suburbia are shattered by a tragic accident involving one of their children, which ends up revealing the darker side of maternal love.
Mothers’ Instinct marks the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Benoit Delhomme, and it’s based on Barbara Abel’s novel from 2012. This book already produced the Belgian adaptation Duelles, directed by by Olivier Masset-Depasse. Sarah Conradt wrote the script for the English-language version.
In addition to the leading duo, this film will also star Josh Charles, Anders Danielsen Lie, Baylen D. Bielitz, and Eamon Patrick O’Connell. Hathaway and Chastain have also been credited as producers, alongside Chastain’s Freckle Films partner Kelly Carmichael.
Mother’s Instinct still doesn’t have an official release date, but it’s expected to hit the theaters later this year. Neon will release it in the US, while StudioCanal will handle the distribution rights in the UK.

]]>Chastain recently discussed Netflix’s adaptation with E! News‘ Francesca Amiker and said there’s “zero possibility” that she’ll take part.
“I love how excited the fans are. When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they’d be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is. I look forward to watching it and I’m sorry to disappoint everyone out there!” said Chastain.
Chastain emerged as a fan favorite to play Celia St. James in The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo due to her physical resemblance to the character, and fans even asked her to sign copies of Reid’s book. After refusing their requests on camera, Chastain explained that it feels wrong to sign a book she’s not attached to contractually and take credit for someone else’s work.
Liz Tigelaar is currently attached to adapt The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for Netflix, with Leslye Headland serving as the director.

]]>Memory centers on a social worker Sylvia, whose simple and structured life is blown open when Saul follows her home from their high school reunion. Their encounter opens the door to their past and profoundly impacts both of their lives.
With Memory, writer/director Michel Franco wanted to tell a story about people trying to escape from the shadows of their past and build a life in the present.
“I wanted to make a film about people who for whatever reason fall through the cracks of society. Their inability—or unwillingness—to conform to expectations is often rooted in events that only exist in their memories,” said Franco in a statement.
In addition to Chastain and Sarsgaard, this film also stars Brooke Timber, Merritt Wever, Elsie Fisher, Jessica Harper, and Josh Charles. It had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where Sarsgaard won the Volpi Cup for best actor. It will be released in selected theaters on December 22 before going wide on January 5, 2024.

]]>Chastain confirmed her participation in an official statement and said it’s an honor to serve as the jury president of the 20th edition of the esteemed Marrakech International Film Festival.
“I am excited to return to the festival having last attended in 2011. Being entrusted with this role is a privilege and I look forward to celebrating incredible global talent within the world of cinema,” said Chastain.
This year’s Marrakech Film Festival Jury schedule was pretty packed long before Chastain hopped on board. Martin Scorsese, who presided over the jury in 2013, will return to Marrakech as the official patron of the Atlas Workshops, which supports a new generation of Moroccan, Arab, and African filmmakers.
The Marrakech International Film Festival is one of Morocco’s most cherished cultural events, and it’s set to return between November 24 and December 2. Unlike most major film festivals of its caliber, the one in Marrakech is open to the public and free to attend.

]]>The Savant has been developed by Anatomy of a Scandal co-creator Melissa James Gibson. It draws inspiration from Andrea Stanley’s viral Cosmopolitan article, titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”
In this eight-episode limited series, Chastain will take on the role of a top-secret investigator known as the Savant, who infiltrates online hate groups to take down the most violent men in the country.
In addition to playing the lead role, Chastain will also executive produce through her Freckle Films banner. Matthew Heineman (A Private War) is directing and executive producing alongside Chastain, Fifth Season’s James Gibson, Freckle Film’s Kelly Carmichael, and Cosmopolitan’s editor-in-chief Jessica Giles.
Chastain is fresh off her SAG Award-winning role in the mini-series George & Tammy, and she has several promising projects on the way. She’ll next star in Michel Franco’s film Memory alongside Peter Sarsgaard and in Benoît Delhomme’s psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct alongside Anne Hathaway.

The auction lasted for 72 hours and involved five bidders, but it eventually came down to Netflix and Warner Bros. Lovecraft Country’s Misha Green will write and direct the film, and she wanted it to be developed for a streaming platform, with Netflix reportedly cashing out a mid-seven figures sum.
In addition to starring in The Good Nurse alongside Eddie Redmayne, Chastain also found huge success last year with the role in the mini-series George & Tammy and won a SAG Award for her performance. The Oscar-winning star will next be seen in the psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct alongside Anne Hathaway.

Scenes From a Marriage was based on Bergman’s own relationship with Liv Ullmann and it followed a wealthy married couple across a decade with everything from the relationship’s ending to the reconciliation.
The modern-day adaptation is co-created, written, and directed by Hagai Levi. This version aims to re-look at the show’s depiction of intense emotions, marriage, and divorce through the eyes of a contemporary American couple.
Chastain and Isaac previously worked together on A Most Violent Year. Chastain replaced Michelle Williams, who exited due to scheduling conflicts. This will be the actresses’ first notable TV appearance since the start of her career. She’s next set to star in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Isaac’s next roles are in Dune and The Card Counter.
Chastain and Isaac will also be executive producing with Michael Ellenberg, Amy Herzog, Lars Blomgren, Daniel Bergman, and Blair Breard.

The story follows world-renowned artist Clementine Pritchard (Chastain) who gives herself 31 days to tie up loose ends before killing herself. In the process, Pritchard uncovers secrets about her family and a tragedy that impacted her mother and sister.
Chastain most recently starred in It: Chapter Two. Her next project is a role in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic A Doll’s House at the Playhouse Theatre in London.
