Jessica Chastain dipped her toes in the TV pool with Scenes from a Marriage and George & Tammy, and she’s getting ready to see what else is out there. The Oscar-winning star landed her next big TV role in the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series The Savant.

The Savant has been developed by Anatomy of a Scandal co-creator Melissa James Gibson. It draws inspiration from Andrea Stanley’s viral Cosmopolitan article, titled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”

In this eight-episode limited series, Chastain will take on the role of a top-secret investigator known as the Savant, who infiltrates online hate groups to take down the most violent men in the country.

In addition to playing the lead role, Chastain will also executive produce through her Freckle Films banner. Matthew Heineman (A Private War) is directing and executive producing alongside Chastain, Fifth Season’s James Gibson, Freckle Film’s Kelly Carmichael, and Cosmopolitan’s editor-in-chief Jessica Giles.

Chastain is fresh off her SAG Award-winning role in the mini-series George & Tammy, and she has several promising projects on the way. She’ll next star in Michel Franco’s film Memory alongside Peter Sarsgaard and in Benoît Delhomme’s psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct alongside Anne Hathaway.
