Peele recently set down for an interview on the popular podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend and revealed what we can expect from his next project.

“It’s been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had had me in a state of listening, and that’s where I need to be… I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” said Peele.

The acclaimed director hasn’t shared any more details about his fourth feature film yet, which has previously been set for the Christmas Day 2024 release. It’s been removed from Universal Pictures’ release calendar in the face of the dual strikes in Hollywood last year, remaining in limbo for now.

Peele’s last feature film Nope was released in 2022, and it starred Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer. It was met with generally positive reviews but struggled to make as much impact as his first two features, Get Out and Us.

Peele discussed the possibility of revisiting the world of Nope in a recent interview with The New York Times. The director was asked about the mysterious character “Nobody”, played by Michael Busch, who only appeared in the final trailer but not in the film itself, and hinted there’s more to him than meets the eye.

“People are doing a lot of interesting detective work, is what’s going on. The story of that character has yet to be told, I can tell you that… I do think [fans] will get more answers on some of these things in the future. We’re not over telling all of these stories,” said Peele.

Nope premiered on July 22 to generally positive reviews, and went on to earn $150 million against a $68 million budget. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, and Brandon Perea, and centers on residents of a remote Californian ravine, who make a chilling discovery that forever changes their lives.

Peele wrote and directed the film with Ian Cooper producing. Like Peele’s first two projects with Universal, Get Out and Us, details are being kept secret.

The secret project is set to be released in July 2022.

Hunters follows a band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City who have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials have been living amongst them and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the United States.

Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker, and Lena Olin starred in the first season.

Weil’s inspiration for the series was from his grandmother who was a Holocaust survivor. “She would tell us (my brothers and I) about her experiences during the war. They were stories of great good versus terrifying evil. But they were stories of hope and courage and survival,” he said. “Growing up, I could see those stories through the prism of superheroes and comic books. That’s how I understood who she was, this superhero in my mind,” Weil told Deadline in June.

Based on Leyna Krow’s short story of the same name, Sinkhole centers on a young family that discovers a mysterious sinkhole in their backyard after moving into their dream home, only to realize it has the power of fixing broken things.

The official logline describes Sinkhole as a “genre piece that engages on the question of female perfection and identity.”

The project will be produced by Universal Pictures and Peele’s company Monkeypaw, while Rae is eyed for the lead role.

Sinkhole serves as a star vehicle for the Insecure actress, but it wouldn’t be her first major movie project. She led The Lovebirds and The Photograph this year, and previously starred in Little and The Hate U Give.

Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollet), and Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) take a road trip to search for Freeman’s missing father (Michael Kenneth Willaims). While on their journey, they’ll have to deal with racism and supernatural monsters.

Also starring in Lovecraft Country are Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, Jamie Harris, and Abbey Lee.

“I love stories,” says lead character Atticus Freeman in the trailer. “Heroes go on adventures to other worlds to fight insurmountable odds. Stories are like a living thing,” he continues.

Supernatural elements seem to be a major theme in the new series as the trailer shows a body being dragged along the dock by unseen forces and a woman being thrown around a room.

A teaser trailer for Amazon’s forthcoming drama series has finally been unveiled. 

The new original series hails from executive producer Jordan Peele. 

The official synopsis reads: “The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.”

The 20-second clip features the Irishman and Godfather actor explaining “This is not murder. This is mitzvah.”

The casting continued for Amazon’s 1970s-set drama. According to multiple outlets, the How I Men Your Mother alum has been cast to star opposite leads Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton. 

The Nazi-hunting series hails from David Weil, who penned the screenplay. Loosely inspired by real-life events, The Hunt follows a band of Nazi hunters who have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among them and are conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the US. 

Amazon put out an order for a 10-episode first season in May of last year. The series is executive produced by Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele, who has an overall TV deal at Amazon. Weil will also serve as co-showrunner with Nikki Toscano. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (American Horror Story) will direct the first episode.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Radnor will play Lonny Flash, a movie star who is secretly a member of the group led by Pacino’s character. 

Also starring are Lena Olin, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Greg Austin and Dylan Baker.

Variety reports that while no official deal has been signed, it is safe to assumed that Abdul-Mateen is the star of Jordan Peele’s sequel to the horror film. 

The project was announced last November. Peele will produce and co-write the “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 original. Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) is set to direct. The sequel will return to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood.

Abdul-Mateen other credits include Netflix’s The Get Down. He is also set to star next in Peele’s thriller Us HBO’s Watchmen series.

Candyman is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2020.
