Only a few days after scoring an Emmy nomination for Insecure, Issa Rae is getting ready to sink her teeth in another promising project. She’ll team up with Jordan Peele in a mind-bending new movie titled Sinkhole.
Based on Leyna Krow’s short story of the same name, Sinkhole centers on a young family that discovers a mysterious sinkhole in their backyard after moving into their dream home, only to realize it has the power of fixing broken things.
The official logline describes Sinkhole as a “genre piece that engages on the question of female perfection and identity.”
The project will be produced by Universal Pictures and Peele’s company Monkeypaw, while Rae is eyed for the lead role.
Sinkhole serves as a star vehicle for the Insecure actress, but it wouldn’t be her first major movie project. She led The Lovebirds and The Photograph this year, and previously starred in Little and The Hate U Give.
