Kosinski will produce this project alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton via Dawn Apollo, and Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment.
According to Deadline, producers have been auditioning actors for Idris’ part since November, and he made the cut after proving he can handle the film’s intense driving scenes.
Damson Idris rose to prominence with the role on FX’s crime drama Snowfall, and he’s expanding his horizons as this series approaches its finale this month. He also made guest appearances on The Twilight Zone, Black Mirror, and Swarm, in addition to starring in movies Farming and Outside the Wire.

]]>Only a quick glance at the box office numbers is needed to see that the sequel to the 1986 blockbuster is a massive success. After premiering at ComicCon on April 28th, Top Gun: Maverick hit cinemas a month later and has so far earned more than $282 million worldwide.
Not only does the impressive figure make it the seventh highest-grossing film of the year, but the opening weekend gross of $160.5 million set the record for Memorial Day weekend, as well as being Tom Cruise’s highest opening of all time.
However, it seems that the action star wasn’t initially on board with reprising his role as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
“I basically had 30 minutes to pitch this film, which I didn’t realise when we were flying over; but when I got there, I found that Tom really didn’t want to make another Top Gun,” revealed director, Joseph Kosinski.
The pair had previously worked together on 2013’s Oblivion, and so Kosinski knew how to go about convincing the Mission: Impossible actor…
“[I] knew to start with character and emotion,” the director said. “I just pitched this idea of Bradley Bradshaw growing up to become a naval aviator, and him and Maverick having this fractured relationship that had never been repaired.”
Top notch work, Joe.

It was also included in Tenth of December, the writer’s bestselling 2013 anthology collection. The movie’s plot is set in the near future where convicts can shorten their incarceration by volunteering to undergo medical experiments. The network did not elaborate on individual roles, but it seems that Hemsworth and Teller will portray two inmates that volunteer to such experiments. They consume a drug that changes their emotions, making them deal with their past.
This is not Hemsworth’s first Netflix movie as he starred in the giant’s hit film Extraction. Smollett got her big-screen break when she played Black Canary in DC’s Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey and is currently playing Letitia Lewis in HBO’s Lovecraft Country. Miles Teller is known for his role in Whiplash.
