Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi movie Spiderhead has just got his leading roles cast. The movie, helmed by Tron: Legacy, and Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, will star Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett.

The movie is an adaptation of a short story called Escape from Spiderhead. Written by George Saunders, it was first published in the New Yorker in 2010. It was also included in Tenth of December, the writer’s bestselling 2013 anthology collection. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who worked together on Deadpool and Zombieland, are responsible for adapting the story into a script.

The movie’s plot is set in the near future where convicts can shorten their incarceration by volunteering to undergo medical experiments. The network did not elaborate on individual roles, but it seems that Hemsworth and Teller will portray two inmates that volunteer to such experiments. They consume a drug that changes their emotions, making them deal with their past.

This is not Hemsworth’s first Netflix movie as he starred in the giant’s hit film Extraction. Smollett got her big-screen break when she played Black Canary in DC’s Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey and is currently playing Letitia Lewis in HBO’s Lovecraft Country. Miles Teller is known for his role in Whiplash.
