The Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore will play Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham, who schemed her way into becoming one of King James I’s most trusted advisers. She encouraged her naïve son George Villiers (Nicholas Galitzine) to seduce the King and become his all-powerful lover.
Tony Curran will join Moore and Galitzine in the role of King James I, while the supporting cast will include Nicola Walker, Niamh Algar, Trine Dyrholm, Sean Gilder, Adrian Rawlins, Mark O’Halloran, Laurie Davidson, Samuel Blenkin, Jacob McCarthy, Tom Victor, Alice Grant, Amelia Gething, Mirren Mack, Rina Mahoney, and Simon Russell Beale.
Mary & George was originally developed by the British broadcaster Sky Studios, and AMC was supposed to serve as its distributor in the United States. Plans later changed and this series will now air on Starz, with the release date yet to be set.

In addition to Portman and Moore, May December also stars Charles Melton, D.W. Moffett, Piper Curda, Elizabeth Yu, Gabriel Chung, and Cory Michael Smith.
May December had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, where it was competing for Palme d’Or and was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews. It will also serve as the opening film at the New York Film Festival on September 29.
Netflix acquired North American distribution rights for May December in Cannes for $11 million. They’re planning to give this Oscar hopeful a limited theatrical release on November 17 before it becomes available on their streaming service on December 1.

The asking price for the domestic deal was initially set at $6 million, but it significantly ballooned as the bidding went on. Netflix reportedly cashed out $11 million, in the hope they’ll be able to position this project as a major Oscar contender this fall.
May December tells the tale of a married couple with a large age gap, whose relationship was once at a center of a notorious tabloid frenzy. Twenty years later, an actress arrives at their home to do the research for a film about their lives, and their relationship starts crumbling under the pressure of their shared past.

Her life turns upside down when her wayward daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives at her doorstep covered in someone else’s blood. From that point on, Echo Valley turns into a riveting thriller, as Kate starts testing her own limits, going off the deep end to save her child.
Echo Valley hails from a script by Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby, and Michael Pearce will be in charge of directing it. In addition to Apple Studios, the project will be produced by Scott Free Films and The Walsh Company,

The psychological-horror thriller was given an eight-episode straight-to-series order. King penned all episodes himself. Abrams and his Warner Bros. TV-based Bad Robot Productions will produce. Moore will also serve as executive producers on the drama.
The series follows Lisey (Moore) two years following the death of her husband. The series explores a series of events that cause her to begin facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project marks the third series for Abrams’ Bad Robot at Apple, following Little Voice and My Glory Was I Had Such Friends.
Moore’s TV credits include the HBO movie Game Change and As the World Turns.

Julie Taymor, the Oscar-nominated director behind Frida, will be in charge of bringing her story to life. Her adaptation of My Life on the Road will be based on the script by Tony-nominated playwright Sarah Ruhl.
Alicia Vikander will play Steinem during her formative years, but she won’t be the only one in charge of portraying this reluctant spokesperson of the feminist movement. Julianne Moore was cast as the older version of the character about a year ago, and we’re sure both actresses will give all they’ve got to tell the tale of one of the most inspiring leaders in the world.
