Kesha hasn’t released any solo music since her last album High Road hit the shelves in 2020 and we finally know what she’s been up to in the meantime. Kesha reflected on her creative journey in the wake of the global pandemic in a recent Nylon article, describing the “emotional exorcism” she went through in the past three years.

“I wanted to make an album that sounds the way my head feels. Dipping in and out of depression, gratitude, rage, and hope. Always moving. Without the darkness, there is no light. So I let my darkness have the light. I can’t fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful,” she wrote in her Nylon open letter.

Gag Order will be released by RCA and Sony Music on May 19. She will tease its release with two new singles “Eat the Acid” and “Fine Line”, hitting the shelves on April 28. She shared several more song titles in an interview with The Rolling Stone, including “All I Need Is You”, “Living in My Head”, and “Only Love Can Save Us Now”.

Like the rest of the videos they made together, this one is another crazy ride and it shows the singer riding through the desert, eating cotton candy and partying inside a ball pit.

Kesha’s latest album hit the shelves on January 31st, and she teased its release with the singles “Raising Hell” and “My Own Dance”. She wanted to experiment with all kinds of genres on this record, but her priority was going back to her pop roots.

Kesha will support her new album with the High Road Tour, and Big Freedia who was featured on her single “Raising Hell” is expected to join her as a special guest. She’s expected to start touring across North America in April and stay on the road until June, before heading to Europe.

The music video for this uplifting song sees Kesha roaming through a rundown motel on her quest to find a box of magic cereal, and running into all sorts of colorful and bizarre characters before finding her way to a supermarket where things get even weirder.

Kesha previously discussed this record with Rolling Stone and revealed it was inspired by a conversation with her brother who encouraged her to embrace her signature pop sound.

“I kind of felt like I didn’t have the right to be happy and write happy songs… I have to say, that song, and that conversation with my brother, put me on the path of finding probably the most severe happiness I’ve ever had my entire life,” said the singer.

“My Own Dance” will be featured on her upcoming album High Road, set to be released on January 10th, 2020.

“Raising Hell” is the lead single from her upcoming studio album High Road, set to be released on January 10th, 2020. Kesha told Entertainment Weekly that making new music helped her find joy and reclaim her own voice.

“If you keep on pushing through the darkness, you’ll find a rainbow, and I feel like I finally arrived there. I want that to be inspiration to other people – by embracing the vulnerable side of myself, but also the strong, and the person that wants to lead a joyful, happy, and free life.”

The “Tik Tok” singer recently discussed her follow-up to the 2017 album Rainbow with Entertainment Weekly and described the genre as “weirdo pop,” because it mixes a wide range of styles. This record made her fall in love with pop music all over again, and enjoy the escapism it brings along.

Kesha faced a fair share of hard times in the past, but she pushed through darkness and used music as her therapy. Her new record is all about taking her voice back and embracing both the strong and vulnerable part of herself.

Kesha said that one of the most enjoyable parts of making this record was the long list of amazing collaborators she met along the way, including Tayla Parx and Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons.

“My process of making music works best when I’m with people that I know, that I care about, I’m comfortable with, and we are genuinely having a really good time. That is when the truth comes out and that’s when the best songs are born,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Her new album is set to be released this December, and she’ll soon give us a taste of things to come with new track “High Road.”
