I reached a career milestone yesterday when I voiced myself on The Simpsons!” Smith wrote. “This was a massive moment in my life, right up there with the Chinese Theater footprints or Clerks getting into the Library of Congress!”
“The Simpsons are in my creative DNA and I’ve spent my career trying to ape their blend of humor and heart,” he continued. “So when I received the invitation to voice a Simpsonized version of me, I wept tears of joy. Carolyn Omine is the Emmy winning writer of the ep, as well as my way into my favorite show of all time. When Homer called Maggie Silent Bob in ‘3 Gays and a Condo’ I thought that was the closest I’d ever come to Springfield.”

]]>Smith shared a lengthy recap of 2019 on Instagram in celebration of the New Year and revealed what he has in store for 2020. One of the projects he’s working on right now is a new script titled Twilight of the Mallrats.
The first Mallrats movie came out in 1995, and it featured several of Smith’s classic characters, including Jay and Silent Bob. This won’t be the first time he brought them back since he seems to be working on several other sequels right now.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot came out last year and featured cameos of several Hollywood A-listers, including Chris Hemsworth, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon. “It’ll be a movie about how you’re never too old to completely change your life,” Smith explained on the ‘gram. “It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future. It’ll be a movie that brings us back to the beginning — a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of New Jersey. It’ll be a movie that stars Jeff and Brian O’Halloran, with me and [Jason Mewes] in supporting roles. And it’ll be a movie called Clerks III! To be great is to go on. To go on is to go far. To go far is to return. And we’re all gonna return to the scene of the crime! This won’t be the old script we almost made a few years back: this is a completely new screenplay that I just started writing last night!”

Also shown in the scene is Tommy Chong who played a stoned version of the faithful Alfred.
The scene is a clear spoof of a Batmen V Superman: Dawn of Justice, where the two popular superheroes face each other in the fanbase’s dream come to life scene. Bluntman even uses a… similar… grenade to the kryptonite Batman has used in the original movie.
Along with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, the cast of the movie will include Shannon Elizabeth, Jason Lee, Donnell Rawlings, Joey Lauren Adams, and numerous other stars. It is set to be released on October 15.

Jason Mewes (Jay) and Kevin Smith (Silent Bob) will reprise their roles alongside “a number of returning players from the star-studded cast of the original movie,” and new additions “from the worlds of movies, TV, music, and podcasting.”
“Last February, I almost died,” Smith said in a statement, “So on the one year anniversary of my widow maker heart attack, as a celebration of life and a big ol’ F you to Death, my best friend and I will be rolling cameras on a sequel/remake/reboot of a movie we first made nearly twenty years ago!”
He continued: “In Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back our herbal heroes found out Hollywood was making a movie based on them, so they journeyed out to Hollywood to stop it. But I’ve learned so much as a storyteller and have grown immensely as a filmmaker since then, so audiences can expect something completely different: In Jay & Silent Bob Reboot our herbal heroes find out Hollywood is making a reboot of the old movie that was based on them, so they journey out to Hollywood to stop it again. ]]>On Thursday, however, Kevin Smith decided to give fans some details about the project, during Q&A session at his podcast Fatman on Batman. Besides revealing that Jay and Silent Bob Reboot should enter production in August 2018 and with a release date set for August 2019, Smith also spoke about the plot of the movie.
“We’re doing a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and it’s called Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” said Smith. “It’s us, it’s me and Jay so it’s not really strictly a reboot in the way that people think of a reboot. If you remember Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back it was a movie in which Jay and Silent Bob found out Hollywood was making a movie about them so they went cross country to Hollywood to stop that from happening. In Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Jay and Silent Bob find out that Hollywood is making a reboot of that old movie that they had made about them, and they have to go across the country to Hollywood to stop it all over again. It’s a movie that makes fun of sequels and remakes and reboots while being all three at the same time.”
