A Masters of the Universe live-action movie is coming our way in 2021, but it seems we won’t have to wait that long for He-Man to return to our lives. Netflix is currently plotting an animated series inspired by this legendary hero, with Kevin Smith serving as showrunner.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will focus on some of the unresolved storylines from the beloved ‘80s franchise. Smith seems like the perfect person for the job, since he happens to be a huge fan of Mattel’s series.

“I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe, In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor!” the filmmaker said in an official statement.

This won’t be the first Masters of the Universe inspired project developed by Netflix. This streaming service is also a home to animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which currently has three seasons.
