How I Met Your Father explores a similar concept as the original show, but with a new set of characters. It centers on Sophie (Hilary Duff), a hopelessly romantic photographer looking for her one true love in New York City.

Harris isn’t the first cast member of How I Met Your Mother to appear in the spinoff series. Cobie Smulders made a cameo as Robin Scherbatsky, and Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Bell Bundy, and Alexis Denisof also came back to reprise their recurring roles from the original show.

The midseason finale of How I Met Your Father will premiere on Hulu on March 28, and the show will take a brief hiatus before continuing its 20-episode second season run on May 23.

Uncoupled stars Neil Patrick Harris as a newly single gay man in his late 40s, who must navigate New York’s complicated dating scene for the first time in 17 years. After getting abruptly dumped by his long-term partner, he realizes that a lot has changed while he was in a relationship, and he must quickly take action to avoid being single forever.

In addition to Harris, the series also stars Tisha Campbell, Tuc Watkins, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden in supporting roles. It was created for Netflix by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman.

After premiering on Netflix back on July 29, 2022, Uncoupled debuted in the Netflix Top 10, but that wasn’t enough to grant its renewal. Netflix announced the series won’t be coming back for the second season back in January, but it didn’t take long for Showtime to pick it up. According to Deadline, the second season is expected to be edgier and racier, exploring “culturally diverse takes” like The L Word and The Chi.

Uncoupled was co-created by Darren Star (SATC) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family), who described it as their passion project, adding they’re excited to share it with the world.

“While the world is specific, we believe the themes of love, loss, and reinvention will be relatable to everyone. We are especially proud of our fine cast, led by the incomparable Neil Patrick Harris, who gives a performance that is both hilarious and heartbreaking,” said the duo in a statement.

In addition to Harris, Uncoupled also stars Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, and Marcia Gay Harden. The first season will feature a total of eight episodes and it’s set to premiere on Netflix on July 29.

Harris will star opposite Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, and Sharon Horgan in the action-packed comedy. 

In the film, Cage is set to star as actor Nicolas Cage. Desperate to get a role in a new Quentin Tarantino movie, Cage is also dealing with a strained relationship with his teenage daughter and is also under a mountain of debt. He finds himself forced to make an appearance at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire, who happens to be a drug cartel kingpin who has kidnapped the daughter of a Mexican presidential nominee. Cage is then subsequently recruited by the U.S. government to get intelligence.

Harris will play Cage’s talent agent. Horgan has been cast as Cage’s ex-wife. Haddish is set to play an eccentric rogue government agent.

The script was written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, with Gormican attached to direct.

Now, it has been announced that Harris will join the cast of the upcoming The Matrix 4. Variety reports that the actor has signed up for a significant role in the film. As the plot is kept secret we still don’t know what part it would be exactly.

The making of the new sequel was confirmed last August. The original’s writer and director Lana Wachowski will be at the helm and Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss will return to their parts of Neo and Trinity.

Deadline reports that Jada Pinkett Smith is also in talks to return to the franchise. She played the part of Niobe in The Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolution.
