]]>The next chapter of this coming-of-age comedy will reunite us with smart and sarcastic Indian-American teenager Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), as she continues to deal with the everyday pressures of high school and drama at home, while also navigating new romantic relationships.
Season 2 showed Devi dealing with a major love triangle, but we finally got our happy ending when she ended up with Paxton (Darren Barnet)… or so we thought. Judging by the new trailer, the upcoming Season 3 will make things even more complicated by introducing a potential new love interest Des (Anirudh Pisharody).
The upcoming season will see many of the fan favorites reprise their roles from the previous two seasons, including Poorna Jagannathan, Jaren Lewison, Richa Moorjani, Ramona Young, Lee Rodriguez, and John McEnroe as the show’s hilarious narrator.
The upcoming third season of Never Have I Ever will premiere on Netflix on August 12 and feature a total of ten episodes. The fourth season of the show is coming our way in 2023, but it will also be its last.

Never Have I Ever was created by The Office star Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Lang Fisher. Based on Kaling’s own experience, the series follows 15-year-old Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), as she tries to improve her high school experience while dealing with the death of her father. The series also stars Richa Moorjani, Lee Rodriguez, Ramona Young, Jaren Lewison, and Darren Barnet, among others.
“We are so grateful to Netflix and Universal Television for letting us continue to tell this story, and to the fans around the world who clamored to see more of this badly behaved Indian teenager,” said Kaling and Fisher in a joint statement after the news about the third season was confirmed.
The show became a huge hit among critics when it came out, being praised for its “fresh take on the coming-of-age comedy.” While Netflix doesn’t release exact viewing numbers for its shows, the streamer revealed during the Q2 report meeting last year that the series was watched by 40 million households in the first four weeks.

Ramakrishnan is new to the acting world and she beat out 15,000 other actors in an open casting call.
The series focuses on the awkward high school experiences of Devi, a first-generation Indian American teenage girl who’s a hardworking high school sophomore with a bit of a temper. Devi deals with coping with her father’s sudden death while searching for love.
“It’s awesome because I’m seeing so many people saying, ‘Oh my God, I can relate to this so much.’ Whether it’s something as simple as one of the arm hair jokes — because let’s be real, even though I’m 100% confident with my arm hair, there are days where I go up to my father and I say, ‘Why did you do this to me? Why can’t you give me anything else?’” Ramakrishnan told Variety.
“Or somebody saying, ‘Thank you, this made me really realize I have some unpacking to do with the loss of a family member’…That’s all I wanted from this show. Emmys for the cast, Emmys for the direction, a Nobel Peace Prize — I’m not opposed — but, in all seriousness, this is all I wanted from the show,” she continued.
