We can always count on Saoirse Ronan to choose to work on some pretty interesting projects, and she’s done it once again. The four-time Oscar-nominated actress landed the lead role in the satirical thriller Bad Apples, the English language debut of Swedish filmmaker Jonatan Etzler.

Bad Apples is based on Rasmus Lindgren’s debut novel De Oönskade, and it centers on a young primary school teacher doing everything in her power to inspire a class of 10-year-olds. Her job is made more difficult by one unruly and chaotic student, and her life spirals out of control after she locks him in her home after a series of reckless decisions.

Oskar Pimlott is producing the film through his Pulse Films banner, and his expectations for this project are running high.

“Jonatan has an unparalleled ability to create hilarious and horrifying cinema from the uncomfortable truths of human nature. We couldn’t be more excited that his unique perspective is going to collide with the extraordinary depth and talent of Saoirse Ronan in this special film,” said Pimlott in a statement.

Ronan most recently appeared in Garth Davis’ sci-fi thriller Foe alongside Paul Mescal, and she has several more interesting projects on the way. She’s also attached to Steve McQueen’s historical drama Blitz and Nora Fingscheidt’s drama The Outrun.

If the last season of Black Mirror left you craving for more, Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan’s next film will be your cup of tea. The first trailer for Foe is here, and it sees the Irish duo playing a young couple whose are lives turn upside down after a stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.

Based on Iain Reid’s novel of the same name – who also co-wrote the script alongside the director Garth Davis – Foe takes us to a secluded farm, where the young couple Hen and Junior lead seemingly peaceful lives until a mysterious stranger shows up at their doorstep.

Their quiet life is thrown into turmoil after the stranger informs Junior he will be sent to a large space station, while his wife will be left with someone else to keep her company.

Mescal is gearing up for another benchmark year after scoring his first Oscar nomination for his leading role in Aftersun. In addition to Foe, he’s also set to star in All of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott. Ronan doesn’t have any other projects lined up for 2023, but we’ll soon get to see her in Steve McQueen’s historical drama Blitz.

Foe will premiere at the New York Film Festival, shortly before heading to Amazon on October 6.

If you’re always in the mood for a murder mystery with a hint of comedy, See How They Run is just the film you’re waiting for. The first trailer for this promising movie is here, and it shows Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan joining forces to solve a murder in the 50s London.

According to its official logline, See How They Run takes place in the West End of 1950s London, where “plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered.” Inspector Stoppard (Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Ronan) take on the case, only to find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground.

In addition to the leading duo, this murder mystery will also star Adrien Brody, Ruth Wilson, Reece Shearsmith, Harris Dickinson, and David Oyelowo. It marks the feature directing debut for Tom George and it’s based on the script by Mark Chappell.

Ronan most recently starred in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, and she’s currently attached to the sci-fi thriller Foe and drama The Outrun. Rockwell has several projects lined up, including Matthew Vaughn’s spy film Argylle, also starring Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Bryan Cranston.

In addition to Ronan and Winslet, this period drama stars Fiona Shaw, James McArdle, and Gemma Jones. While discussing the project with Entertainment Weekly, she described it as the story about the power of a deep, intimate, human relationship.

A star-studded cast, an amazing story and a visionary director are the main ingredients of an amazing movie – and Little Women has them all!

That’s why it’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and Greta Gerwig finally gave us a sneak peek into her latest project.

The Oscar-nominated screenwriter and director recently set down with Vanity Fair to discuss her adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel and used the opportunity to share the first look at this period drama.

She unveiled a couple of pictures, showing the leading ladies Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan and Eliza Scanlen in character as the March sisters.

This timeless coming-of-age tale was always very close to Gerwig’s heart, and bringing it to the big screen was a deeply personal experience. Despite the fact the story is set in the post-Civil War era, Little Women always felt fairly modern because it follows several female characters, who have a very strong sense of self and are marching to the beat of their own drum.

“They were just people. They were not in a period piece, they were just living. They were the most modern people who had ever existed, up till that point,” explained Gerwig.

It’s been almost five years since Saoirse Ronan met Wes Anderson on the set of The Grand Budapest Hotel, and they’re finally getting ready for a new collaboration. The three-time Oscar nominee is the latest star to join the cast of his next film The French Dispatch.

This exciting project is set in the 20th-century Paris, and it’s been described as a “love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper”. We still don’t know much about the plot, or the characters, but they’ll be portrayed by the likes of Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, and Timothée Chalamet.

Saoirse Ronan recently wrapped up filming for the upcoming Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women, and it’s only fitting that her next project reunites her with another brilliant director she adored long before they worked together.

“The thing that amazes me about Wes, and I’ve seen almost all of his films is that, is that they’re all great, they’re all brilliant. His films don’t make that much money but everyone who loves them, loves them,” said Ronan after meeting Anderson on the set of The Grand Budapest Hotel.
