Saoirse Ronan & Paul Mescal Take the Lead in First Trailer for “Foe”

If the last season of Black Mirror left you craving for more, Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan’s next film will be your cup of tea. The first trailer for Foe is here, and it sees the Irish duo playing a young couple whose are lives turn upside down after a stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.

Based on Iain Reid’s novel of the same name – who also co-wrote the script alongside the director Garth Davis – Foe takes us to a secluded farm, where the young couple Hen and Junior lead seemingly peaceful lives until a mysterious stranger shows up at their doorstep.

Their quiet life is thrown into turmoil after the stranger informs Junior he will be sent to a large space station, while his wife will be left with someone else to keep her company.

Mescal is gearing up for another benchmark year after scoring his first Oscar nomination for his leading role in Aftersun. In addition to Foe, he’s also set to star in All of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott. Ronan doesn’t have any other projects lined up for 2023, but we’ll soon get to see her in Steve McQueen’s historical drama Blitz.

Foe will premiere at the New York Film Festival, shortly before heading to Amazon on October 6.
