It’s been a while since Nancy Meyers has given us a new film and she’s finally ready for a comeback! Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Michael Fassbender, and Owen Wilson have been cast in the queen of rom-com’s next project, Paris Paramount.

Paris Paramount will focus on an above-the-line filmmaking duo who begrudgingly reunite on set after falling in and out of love with one another. In addition to directing this film, Meyers also wrote the script, and she’ll serve as one of its producers.

Paris Paramount is the latest big-budget Netflix comedy, and the streamer reportedly cashed out $100 million to make it happen, according to Deadline. The budgeting is still being worked through, and Johansson, Cruz, Fassbender, and Wilson are yet to officially close their deals.

The casting is pretty impressive since the ensemble consists of Oscar winners and nominees. Cruz won the Academy Award for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, while Fassbender and Johansson scored two nominations each. Wilson is a one-time nominee, but he received his nod for screenwriting, rather than acting.

Paris Paramount will mark Nancy Meyers’ first directorial effort since the 2015 buddy comedy The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Her credits as a director also include The Parent Trap, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday.

Project Artemis was supposed to serve as a reunion between Marvel co-stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, but a major change is underway. Evans decided to step down due to scheduling conflicts, but the masterminds behind this project found a worthy replacement in Channing Tatum.

Evans, who most recently starred in Pixar’s Lightyear and Netflix’s The Gray Man, exited the project because he’s currently attached to Pain Hustlers and Big Red One. His decision to exit Project Artemis comes shortly after Jason Bateman stepped down as a director due to creative differences, with Greg Berlanti taking his spot.

The script for this project was developed through the production company These Pictures, and its co-founder Jonathan Lia said they’re thrilled to welcome Greg Berlanti and Channing Tatum to Project Artemis.

“Greg’s passion for character and storytelling has driven his decades-long career in film & TV.  We couldn’t be more excited for him to lead our team on this journey. We have been huge fans of Channing’s for a long time and are so honored to finally have the opportunity to work with him,” said Lia in a statement.

Project Artemis will take place during the space race in the ’60s, but not much is known about its plot. Apple is producing the film alongside These Pictures, after reportedly cashing out $100 million to acquire the hot package when it hit the market this spring.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Hollywood Reporter described this project as “a high-concept romantic action-adventure in the vein of Romancing the Stone.” This 1984 classic starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner and centered on a romance novelist who finds herself embarking on an adventure of a lifetime with a mercenary rogue.

Dexter Fletcher, whose previous credits include Eddie the Eagle and Rocketman, is set to direct this exciting project. The script was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who previously worked on Deadpool and Zombieland scripts by each other’s side.

Johansson and Evans most notably tamed up to play Black Widow and Captain America in the MCU movies, but they were familiar with each other long before being cast in these iconic roles. During the mid-2000s, they also starred together in comedies The Perfect Score and The Nanny Diaries.

Johansson has been making headlines for suing Disney on breach of contract after the company released Black Widow simultaneously in theaters and on Disney Plus for $30. She says the decision causes a loss in ticket sales, resulting in a loss of $50 million in box office bonuses. Disney claimed her contract ensured a wide release, not an exclusive theatrical release.

A Little Shop of Horrors remake is in the making and the casting is apparently underway. It is difficult to recast two of the most iconic characters of the ’80s but two major names are in talks for the leading parts.

Full Circle Cinema reports that Taron Egerton may play the lead part of Seymour Krelborn – a part that was played by Rick Moranis in the 1986 movie. Scarlett Johansson is in talks to fill Ellen Greene’s shoes as his beloved Audrie.

Egerton starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel and won the Golden Globe for his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman. Scarlet Johansson got great reviews this year for her parts in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.

The new remake was announced in 2016. It will be directed by Greg Berlanti and written by Matthew Robinson, and it will be the third movie adaptation of the story. The original horror film was released in 1960 by Roger Corman and it was remade in 1986. In 1982, it was adapted to an off-Broadway musical by Alan Menken and in 2003 it hit Broadway with Hunter Foster and Kerry Butler as the leading couple.

Billy Porter is currently rumored to voice the murderous plant Audrie II.

Captain America is one of the characters whose journey nicely wrapped up in Avengers: Endgame. Chris Evans bid farewell to his most iconic character in this movie, but will we ever see him play Steve Rogers again?

Evans recently did an interview for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series alongside his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson and tackled the possibility of returning to the MCU. He’s not eager to walk in Steve Roger’s shoes any time soon, but “it’s not a hard no.”

The famous actor, who’s currently promoting his new project Knives Out, explained he’s working on other things right now and doesn’t want to return to the MCU unless his comeback is adding to Cap’s story and revealing something new.

“I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. A lot of things would have to come together,” said Chris Evans.

He added that Avengers: Endgame felt like perfect closure for the character he spent playing for almost a decade, and that “it’d be a shame to sour that.”

Apple’s collaboration with A24 is a gift that keeps on giving, and they have another A-list project on the way. Scarlett Johansson will play the lead in the upcoming sci-fi drama Bride, to be directed by Sebastián Lelio.

According to its official synopsis, this project follows “a woman created to be an ideal wife—the singular obsession of a brilliant entrepreneur.” After rejecting her creator, she’s forced to escape her confined existence, find her true identity and strength to rebuild her life.

Lelio’s previous filmography includes a slate of critically acclaimed projects, including the Oscar-winning drama A Fantastic Woman. He’s co-writing the script for Bride with Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

In addition to playing the lead role, Johansson will also serve as one of the producers. Her recent filmography includes the Oscar-nominated turns in Jojo Rabbit and Marriage Story. She’s soon set to appear in Marvel’s Black Widow, in addition to being attached to the upcoming Little Shop of Horrors remake.
