Paris Paramount is the latest big-budget Netflix comedy, and the streamer reportedly cashed out $100 million to make it happen, according to Deadline. The budgeting is still being worked through, and Johansson, Cruz, Fassbender, and Wilson are yet to officially close their deals.
The casting is pretty impressive since the ensemble consists of Oscar winners and nominees. Cruz won the Academy Award for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, while Fassbender and Johansson scored two nominations each. Wilson is a one-time nominee, but he received his nod for screenwriting, rather than acting.
Paris Paramount will mark Nancy Meyers’ first directorial effort since the 2015 buddy comedy The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Her credits as a director also include The Parent Trap, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday.

]]>Evans, who most recently starred in Pixar’s Lightyear and Netflix’s The Gray Man, exited the project because he’s currently attached to Pain Hustlers and Big Red One. His decision to exit Project Artemis comes shortly after Jason Bateman stepped down as a director due to creative differences, with Greg Berlanti taking his spot.
The script for this project was developed through the production company These Pictures, and its co-founder Jonathan Lia said they’re thrilled to welcome Greg Berlanti and Channing Tatum to Project Artemis.
“Greg’s passion for character and storytelling has driven his decades-long career in film & TV. We couldn’t be more excited for him to lead our team on this journey. We have been huge fans of Channing’s for a long time and are so honored to finally have the opportunity to work with him,” said Lia in a statement.
Project Artemis will take place during the space race in the ’60s, but not much is known about its plot. Apple is producing the film alongside These Pictures, after reportedly cashing out $100 million to acquire the hot package when it hit the market this spring.

Dexter Fletcher, whose previous credits include Eddie the Eagle and Rocketman, is set to direct this exciting project. The script was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who previously worked on Deadpool and Zombieland scripts by each other’s side.
Johansson and Evans most notably tamed up to play Black Widow and Captain America in the MCU movies, but they were familiar with each other long before being cast in these iconic roles. During the mid-2000s, they also starred together in comedies The Perfect Score and The Nanny Diaries.

Johansson has been making headlines for suing Disney on breach of contract after the company released Black Widow simultaneously in theaters and on Disney Plus for $30. She says the decision causes a loss in ticket sales, resulting in a loss of $50 million in box office bonuses. Disney claimed her contract ensured a wide release, not an exclusive theatrical release.
Johansson’s credits include Marriage Story, Jojo Rabbit, Lost in Translation, The Prestige, Match Point, Under the Skin, and Ghost World. Johansson won a Tony for A View From the Bridge.
The French Dispatch, Anderson’s recent film, premiered with strong reviews at the Cannes Film Festival this year. It’s expected to open this fall and be a contender at award’s season.

]]>Evans recently did an interview for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series alongside his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson and tackled the possibility of returning to the MCU. He’s not eager to walk in Steve Roger’s shoes any time soon, but “it’s not a hard no.”
The famous actor, who’s currently promoting his new project Knives Out, explained he’s working on other things right now and doesn’t want to return to the MCU unless his comeback is adding to Cap’s story and revealing something new.
“I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. A lot of things would have to come together,” said Chris Evans.
He added that Avengers: Endgame felt like perfect closure for the character he spent playing for almost a decade, and that “it’d be a shame to sour that.”
