The match against French Open winner Jelena Ostapenk will be Serena’s first in almost a year. She previously won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, being already eight weeks pregnant. It is believed that the exhibition match against Ostapenk will serve Williams as a preparation for 2018 Australian Open when she will look to tie Margaret Court’s record for most Grand Slam wins.

A month later, Alexis showed up at French Open after Serena invited him to see her play and that’s when they had their first date.
The pair kept their relationship low-key, but in April 2016, Alexis said that Serena is “the one” and that she makes him a better person.

“I felt like a door had been opened to a person who made me want to be my best self,” – Alexis told Vanity Fair at the time. “I find myself just wanting to be better by simply being around her because of the standard she holds.”

He popped the question in December 2016, at the same table they met almost year and a half ago. Shortly after, in the April 2017, it was revealed that Serena is pregnant. In September, Serena gave birth to their baby girl named Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr.

“With its relation to Mount Olympus, home of the Greek gods, and to the Olympic games, this name has an athletic, goddess-like aura,” according to Name Berry. The couple set up an Instagram account for their little one straight away. The account, dubbed Olympia Ohanian, suggests that they will call their baby “Olympia.”

Serena Williams definitely wasn’t expecting to get pregnant, that’s for sure. She had been training for the Australian Open when she started to feel ill. Her friend encouraged her to take a pregnancy test and it was positive. Her first thoughts?

“Oh my God, this can’t be—I’ve got to play a tournament. How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year,” she said. She then took five additional pregnancy tests — and they were all positive.

A few days later, Ohanian arrived in Australia. Williams handed him a bag that contained all of the positive pregnancy tests.

A Fall Wedding Is The Plan

Williams and Ohanian are busy enjoying every moment with their newborn daughter, but they are planning to wed this fall.

“We are still waiting. There was a bridal shower, and after the bridal comes the bachelorette [party], which is not gonna happen right now!” Williams previously told E! News, joking about her baby bump.

The two have not said where they will tie the knot, but many think they will do so in Italy — it’s where they met and where they got engaged, after all.
