]]>Ramirez will play Che Diaz and joins Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. The official logline of the character is, “a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured. Che is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular.”
Darren Star’s Sex and the City aired on HBO from 1998 through 2004 and it followed a group of friends living in New York City. The show had 94 episodes and spawned two films.
Ramirez won a Tony for Monty Python’s Spamalot and played Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy and Kat Sandoval on Madam Secretary.
“Everyone at ‘And Just Like That…’ is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ramírez has joined the ‘Sex and the City’ family. Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama—and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show,” King said during the announcement.

Kim Cattrall will not return to play Samantha Jones in the revival.
Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, announced the project in an official statement and painted a pretty exciting picture about its future.
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor, and the beloved city that has always defined them,” stated Aubrey.
The Sex and the City revival is expected to start filming in New York in late spring. It will consist of 10 half-hour episodes, and Parker, Davis, and Nixon will serve as executive producers along with Michael Patrick King who served as a director, writer, and executive producer of the original series.

]]>Page Six was the first media outlet to break the news. According to their report, HBO Max is near to closing a deal to revive the iconic series, with leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon returning to their respective roles, without Kim Cattrall.
Before this news started circling, the future of the Sex and the City franchise looked pretty uncertain, after plans for a third movie fell through. Cattrall didn’t want to be involved in this project, and after many reports about the behind-the-scenes drama, she explained her decision by saying she wanted “to end one chapter and start another.”
The news of this project is still fresh, but if they come to fruition, the Sex and the City reboot won’t be the first coming to HBO Max. A Gossip Girl reboot is set to premiere on this streaming service next year, and new versions of In Treatment and True Blood are on the way.
