“Sex and the City” Reboot Gets Premiere Date

And Just Like That… we’ve got a premiere date, well sort of. The Sex and the City prequel will be premiered on HBO Max in December.

Hailing from executive producer Michael Patrick King, the series follows Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristen Davis) as they go from their life and friendship in their 30s to life and friendship in their 50s.

Joining the girls are Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson, and Evan Handler.

Filming is currently underway in New York.

Also executive producing are Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, and John Melfi. The writers include King, Samantha Irby, Rachna Fruchbom, Keli Goff, Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky.

Sex and the City was created by Darren Star and is based on the book Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell. The original series premiered on HBO in 1998 and ran until 2004, for six seasons.

The show spawned two films, Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2. A prequel series titled The Carrie Diaries premiered on the CW in 2013.

During its run, Sex and the City won many awards including seven Emmys, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Directors Guild of America Awards.
