Adam Driver gave us many memorable scenes as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but one still lingers after all this year. The Oscar-nominated actor recently looked back on his time in the galaxy far, far away and reflected on one scene that people remind him of every single day.

Driver recently made an appearance on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? and said that not a day goes by without someone mentioning the scene of Kylo Ren killing Harrison Ford’s Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Driver also recalled how it felt to film the iconic scene, which went on to become one of the biggest shockers of the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy.

“Obviously, John Williams’ [score] wasn’t playing in the background and it was very emotional actually, shooting it with Harrison. Harrison was so generous and contemplative and to me, that was a great moment on set, even though it was his death,” recalled Driver.

The two-time Oscar-nominated actor, who’s currently promoting his recent film Ferrari, also admitted he was “on the fence” about taking the role of Kylo Ren. He eventually decided to do it because it was a great opportunity and added he took it seriously because he knew how much Star Wars films meant to people.

The role of Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy put Daisy Ridley on the map, and she’ll soon come back for more! The British actress agreed to sign on for three more films in the beloved franchise, which will see Rey rebuild a new Jedi order.

Ridley made a surprise appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London and shared the amazing news with her fans. She confirmed her return as scavenger-turned-Jedi Rey in three more movies, and said she’s “very thrilled to be continuing this journey.”

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct Ridley’s comeback movie, while Dave Filoni and James Mangold will be in charge of helming the other two films. Filoni discussed her return with People and said it will be fantastic to welcome her back.

“I’m so excited to see her come out on stage and the crowd roaring. Star Wars is generational and she represents that iconic hero character to a generation of Star Wars fans, and I thought it was really beautiful. I was so happy for her,” he told People.

We haven’t seen Ridley return to this popular franchise ever since starring in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which earned $1.074 billion worldwide despite being met with mixed reactions from the fans.

Lucasfilm is currently experiencing a major shakedown, but the studio’s future is still looking bright amid many changes coming our way. Taika Waititi is the latest A-list director planning his grand entrance to the Star Wars universe, and he’s in talks to star in his own movie.

This project is still in the early stages of development, but Waititi is reportedly working on a script, and he would most likely star in it, as well. The Oscar-winning writer of Jojo Rabbit is currently looking for his next project, which will serve as a follow-up to this year’s sports comedy Next Goal Wins.

It’s not a shocker to see Lucasfilm eye Waititi for one of the Star Wars movies since he already had success directing blockbusters for another Disney-affiliated studio. Waititi found worldwide fame after directing Marvel’s superhero flick Thor: Ragnarok and later returned for its sequel Thor: Love and Thunder.

The future of Waititi’s Star Wars may be looking bright, but the same thing can’t be said about several other projects in this franchise. Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron and the Kevin Feige project that has Michael Waldron attached as a writer are no longer in active development, and their future remains uncertain amid the latest Lucasfilm shakedown.

Hayden Christensen is returning to the force.

Despite having starred in several productions and gaining critical praise prior, the Canadian actor’s breakout performance was as Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He beat 1,500 other actors for the role.

It was announced last year that Christensen would reprise his role after 15 years in the upcoming Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it now seems as though he will get to explore the character even further in another production for the streamer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 40-year-old actor will appear in the Star Wars offshoot Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as the Jedi Knight she portrayed in The Mandalorian.

The new series is set years after the events which took place in Return of the Jedi, but could possibly see Christensen appear in flashbacks as Ahsoka was Anakin’s Padawan.

Star Wars has been turned into an anime version in the first trailer for Disney Plus’ Star Wars: Visions.

The series, which was first revealed at the Anime Expo Lite in July, shows nine original stories from seven Japanese anime studies. The studios include Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production IG.

The trailer has new heroes, villains, blasters, aliens, and lightsabers paired with impressive animation overlaid with Japanese narration.

Japanese and English versions of the series will be released. The English-dubbed cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lucy Liu, Henry Golding, Simu Liu, George Takei, Alison Brie, David Harbour, Karen Fukuhara, Bobby Moynihan, Neil Patrick Harris, Kimiko Glenn, Kyle Chandler, James Hong, Jordan Fisher, Temuera Morrison, and more.

“As a first formal venture into anime, each ‘Star Wars: Visions’ short bears a unique Japanese sensibility, which in many ways aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling,” Disney Plus stated in a press release back in July via Variety. “From the beginning, stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have counted Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa among their many influences, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the unique animation style and perspective of each anime studio.”

Star Wars: Visions will be released on September 22. Check out the trailer below.

Don’t expect Liam Neeson to dust off his lightsaber for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series at Disney+. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Neeson revealed he hadn’t been offered a role in the project.

Neeson starred in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, portraying Qui-Gon Jinn, a character who serves as a Jedi Master of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). And while Jinn died in the movie, returning dead characters in some way is a common occurrence in the Star Wars universe.

When asked by host Jimmy Kimmel whether he will be involved in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Neeson had a disappointing answer for the Star Wars fans. “I heard Ewan McGregor was gonna do a series. No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached,” he said before jokingly adding that the producers “don’t have enough money” to lure him back.

Check out his response in full in the video below at the 06:50 mark.

Obi-Wan Kenobi television series will follow the adventures of the titular character, taking place 10 years after the events in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. McGregor returns as a Kenobi, with Hayden Christensen also being set to reprise his role of Darth Vader.

The series will have a limited character, with six episodes being planned. It is expected to premiere at some point in 2022.

Actor and comedian Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) made a significant reveal during his recent appearance on Celebrity Catch Up: Life After That Thing I Did podcast. According to Frost, he was offered a role in one Star Wars project but decided to pass on the opportunity.

Frost admitted that it all came down to money as he wasn’t satisfied with the paycheck.

“It was only a little bit, but I was like, [the part’s] really small, the pay’s rubbish … I’ve got a family—I don’t do this for free,” said Frost while adding that he doesn’t regret his decision despite the fact he is a fan of the franchise.

Despite being pressed, Frost didn’t want to specify whether he was offered a role in recent Star Wars movies or one of the television shows developed by Disney.

While Frost decided to reject the Star Wars role, his friend and frequent collaborator Simon Pegg took a different path. Pegg starred as Unkar Plutt in The Force Awakens.

It is safe to say that Nick Frost’s resume didn’t suffer from the lack of Star Wars projects. Lately, he co-created and starred in Amazon Prime’s Truth Seekers while also securing roles in CBS’s Why Women Kill and HBO’s The Nevers.

Frost also took part in several feature films recently, including a lead role in the adaptation of Captain Pugwash and the voice role of Merlin in Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob!.

Did Christmas come early this year? According to Disney and Lucasfilm, that may just be the case. The companies have announced that The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will land exclusively on Disney+ on Tuesday, November 17th.

The official synopsis released reads: “Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?”

It seems the new holiday special will also make an homage to the 1978’s now-infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. George Lucas has actually disowned the original special. He has never released it on home video and it survived only with bootleg recordings uploaded by fans. However, the official press release explicitly mentions “Chewbacca’s homeworld of Kashyyyk for a Wookiee-sized celebration of the galaxy’s most cheerful and magical holiday, Life Day.”

The holiday special is directed by Ken Cunningham with a script written by David Shayne. Shayne is also an executive producer alongside James Waugh, Josh Rimes, Jason Cosler, Jacqui Lopez, Jill Wilfert, and Keith Malone. We can only hope the new special will be a significant improvement.

We’re finally getting a first look at Star Wars: Visions which is set to be released on Disney+ on September 22.

The seven Japanese anime studios that are behind the short films in the series were announced by the platform at the Anime Expo Lite. Each of the studios will be giving their take on the Star Wars universe with their signature animation and storytelling styles.

The names of the nine episodes and their corresponding studios are:

Kamikaze Douga – “The Duel”

Geno Studio (Twin Engine) – “Lop and Ochō”

Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – “Tatooine Rhapsody”

Trigger – “The Twins” and “The Elder”

Kinema Citrus – “The Village Bride”

Science Saru – “Akakiri” and “T0-B1”

Production IG – “The Ninth Jedi”

“As a first formal venture into anime, each ‘Star Wars: Visions’ short bears a unique Japanese sensibility, which in many ways aligns with the tone and spirit of Star Wars storytelling. From the beginning, stories told in the Star Wars galaxy have counted Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa among their many influences, and these new visions will further explore that cultural heritage through the unique animation style and perspective of each anime studio,” Disney+ said during their press release.

They also released a special look trailer which shows the creation of Star Wars: Visions. Check it out below.
