Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally starred in many amazing projects by each other’s side, and they’re showing no signs of stopping! One of Hollywood’s best power couples just joined the fourth and final season of Netflix’s superhero series The Umbrella Academy.

Offerman and Mullally are no strangers to playing a married couple, and they’re getting ready to do it once again. They joined the Netflix series as Gene and Jean Thibedeau, a married pair of community college professors from New Mexico who suffer from an extreme case of déjà vu.

Offerman and Mullally are no strangers to working together—their joint filmography includes nine movies and several TV shows, including recurring roles in Will & Grace and Parks and Recreation, the hit sitcoms that put them on the map. They also co-wrote the book The Greatest Story Ever Told and hosted a podcast In Bed With Nick and Megan.

In addition to Offerman and Mullally, the fourth season of The Umbrella Academy also added the Arrested Development star David Cross. He’ll take on the role of Sy Grossman, a shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter.

The fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy will feature a total of six episodes, and its release date is yet to be announced.

My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way has admitted that he has had a “long history with comics” which was interrupted by his time in the band.

Way is the creator of the Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy. Way wrote the comic books that the series is based on and now has his own fan base for his written work.

When The Umbrella Academy landed on Netflix, it gained a lot of attention among My Chemical Romance Fans (MCR), who knew Way as the band’s singer. As it turns out, comic book writing has always been Way’s calling.

“A lot of people at the time, right before Umbrella came out, knew me as a singer in a band,” he shared at Virtual Comic-Con.

“But I had this long history with comics, and kind of making my own and getting published at 15 and using my grandmother’s typewriter. But then I went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and my major was cartooning. So I had all these comic book classes, and in my senior year I interned at DC – I interned there for like a year.”

Way still had a passion for music and MCR was his creation. He reflected on the band’s rise to fame: “This band that I had started, really started to take off. Then all of us quit our jobs and we get in the van and we just start touring.”

Season two of The Umbrella Academy will premier on Netflix July 31st.

If you haven’t watched the Umbrella Academy on Netflix yet then you should, it’s great. But you also shouldn’t read on because there are spoilers ahead.

If you watched the show, which was adapted from (My Chemical Romance) Gerard Way’s graphic novel, you might be wondering what the hell was up with that unexpected apocalyptic endings. There was no equilibrium and the superheroes fail. It’s not very MCU.

When asked about the ending, the show’s creator simply beams and confesses that all he wanted to do was find a “really good cliffhanger.”

“Yeah, it ends horribly!” Steve told Entertainment Weekly. “What I really wanted to do was find a really good cliffhanger. I also thought it was too easy for this family to come together in eight days and save the world. It has to be trickier than that.”

Steve’s priority was not saving the world but saving the “wonderfully dysnfunctional” family that steal the show.

He continued: “I wanted to have an ending where they sort of came together as a family, but they didn’t achieve the greater goal of saving the world. If we get a second season, we’ll see how they’re gonna end up. These guys aren’t dead, but we don’t know what happens.”

He added: “I thought it told a lot about who this family was, which is they couldn’t quite get it together. Their wonderfully dysfunctional family couldn’t quite win the day. I thought that was very telling for the season.”

The Umbrella Academy is available to watch on Netflix now.

The streaming giant has revealed the premiere date for the highly anticipated second season of their hit TV show The Umbrella Academy.

In the clip, shared on YouTube, cast members dance in their homes to Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now.” With the video, we learn that the new episodes will stream on July 31, 2020.

Season one of The Umbrella Academy aired in February 2019 and became an instant hit. Based on a comic series of the same name, created and written by My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the story revolves around adopted siblings, born on the same day in 1989 to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. In the first season, we saw the six surviving members reunite after the passing of their father, working together to solve the mystery surrounding his death.

The ensemble cast features Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, and Mary J. Blige.

Steve Blackman, who signed a multi-year overall deal with Netflix in February, will return as howrunner. He will also serve as executive producer alongside Jeff F. King, Mike Richardson, and Keith Goldberg. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá are co-executive producers.

Netflix gave us one of their best new shows of the year with The Umbrella Academy, and its second season is shaping up to be as amazing as the first. Marin Ireland, Ritu Arya, and Yusuf Gatewood recently joined the cast of this unconventional superhero series.

The plot of the upcoming season is still under wraps, but we know what to expect of the three new characters they’re introducing once it premieres. Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete) will take on the role of Sissy – a fearless Texas mom, on a quest to rediscover what life and love have to offer.

Ritu Arya (Humans) will play an unpredictable and mischievous chameleon, Lila, who also happens to be gifted with a twisted sense of humor. Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) will portray Raymond, a warm and devoted man who has all the qualities of a born leader.

The Umbrella Academy tells the story of a group of former child heroes, who are forced to reunite and save the world. The first season premiered on February 15th to good reviews, and its ensemble cast included Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher.
