It’s been over a year since Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion made a splash with their collaboration “WAP”, and they’re still making waves with this song. This smash-hit transformed them into two of the biggest winners at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.
“WAP” collected trophies in three separate categories—song of the year, best hip hop video, and best collaboration. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion were both in the running for the biggest award of the night—hip hop artist of the year—but eventually lost out to Lil Baby.
Tyler, The Creator was also amongst the biggest winners of the night with a total of three awards. He managed to beat tough competition to walk away with the award for hip hop album of the year for Call Me If You Get Lost, and also won the award for the best live performer and cultural influence award.
The list of major winners at this year’s ceremony also included JAY-Z and the late Nipsey Hussle, who shared two awards for their collaboration “What It Feels Like”.
