The BET Awards are coming back to Los Angeles to celebrate Black excellence later this month and we know who’ll be in the running for top awards. Doja Cat topped the list of nominees with six nods and she’s closely followed by Drake and Ari Lennox with four.
Doja Cat will be in the running in the majority of the main categories at this awards show, including album of the year with Planet Her, best female R&B/pop artist, best female hip hop artist, BET Her with “Woman”, and best collaboration and best music video with “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA.
The list of nominees in the night’s main category—album of the year—also includes Call Me If You Get Lost by Tyler, The Creator, Certified Lover Boy by Drake, Donda by Kanye West, Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe by Jazmine Sullivan, An Evening With Silk Sonic by Silk Sonic, and Back Of My Mind by H.E.R.
As for movie and TV categories, King Richard and Respect are leading the way with three nominations each. They’re both in the running for the best movie award, together with Candyman, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Summer of Soul, and The Harder They Fall.
The 2022 BET Awards will take place on June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with Taraji P. Henson serving as a host.
