Kendrick Lamar never had any trouble stealing the show at the BET Hip Hop Awards, and he’s done it once again! He came into the night with four nominations and managed to walk away with all of them, topping the list of winners alongside Drake and 21 Savage.
Lamar defeated 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Drake, GloRilla, J. Cole, and Lil Uzi Vert to be named the hip-hop artist of the year—and that was just the beginning. He also won awards for the best live performer, lyricist of the year, and video director of the year alongside Dave Free.
Drake and 21 Savage were also on top of their game and managed to win two awards, including album of the year with Her Loss, beating the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, and Jack Harlow. Despite losing in this category, Lil Uzi Vert managed to win two awards, including song and hip-hop video of the year with “Just Wanna Rock”.
The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards aired on BET on October 10 after being filmed at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, with Fat Joe serving as the host.
