General Hospital came into this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards as the front-runner and it lived up to the hype. The long-running soap opera won top prizes at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, including the coveted award for the outstanding drama series.

General Hospital came into this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards as the top nominee, with fourteen nods in the main field. It was one of the main contenders for the outstanding drama series, and it defeated The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless to come out victorious in this category.

ABC’s long-running soap opera also won awards in several acting categories, including outstanding performance by a supporting actor and actress (Robert Gossett and Sonya Eddy), outstanding young performer (Eden McCoy), and outstanding guest performer in a drama series (Alley Mills).

It was also a big night for Kelly Clarkson, who walked away with two awards: outstanding daytime talk series and outstanding daytime talk series host for her work on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The People’s Court was named outstanding legal/courtroom program, while Entertainment Tonight won the award for outstanding entertainment news series.

The 50th Daytime Emmy Awards took place on December 15 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
