The GLAAD Media Awards came back to celebrate LGBTQ+ representation in media this week and impressed us with their choices. This ceremony honored some of the best films and TV shows of the past year, including A League of Their Own and Bros.

Bros was named the outstanding film with a wide release, defeating the likes of Everything Everywhere All at Once and Tár. A League of Their Own was named the outstanding new TV series, while The White Lotus and 9-1-1: Lone Star won trophies for the outstanding limited and drama series, respectively.

Christina Aguilera was among the recipients at the live ceremony, and she dedicated her Advocate for Change Award to the trans community that has faced so much hardship.

“I always hoped I could use my music to speak up for others who didn’t have a voice. That’s why I am so grateful to GLAAD for this award, and for the work you do to get the LGBTQ community heard,” said Aguilera in her speech.

The first round of 15 GLAAD Media Awards winners was announced on March 30, with Margaret Cho hosting the show in Los Angeles. GLAAD’s New York ceremony will take place on May 13, and awards in another 18 categories will be rewarded that night.
