Jennifer Coolidge won countless awards for her performance on The White Lotus, and she’s getting ready to add one more to her impressive collection. She’ll be honored with the Comedic Genius Award at the upcoming MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Coolidge’s career experienced somewhat of a renaissance in recent years thanks to the role in The White Lotus, but she’s been making waves in Hollywood for three decades.
After getting her big break with the role in the American Pie comedy franchise, Coolidge went on to star in such classic 2000s comedies as Legally Blonde and A Cinderella Story. She also collaborated with Christopher Guest on several acclaimed projects, including Best in Show and For Your Consideration.
According to MTV, the Comedic Genius Award “honors actors who have made incomparable contributions to the world of comedy, providing a major influence through their work and transforming the genre at large.” Coolidge will be in pretty good company since the list of the previous recipients includes Jack Black, Melissa McCarthy, Kevin Hart, and Will Ferrell.
The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards will take place on May 7, with Drew Barrymore serving as a host. Top Gun: Maverick, Stranger Things, and The Last of Us topped the list of nominees with six nods each.
