“24” Set to Get a Few Extra Hours

Kiefer Sutherland in "24"

We’re getting an extra 24 hours!

You can thank the current wave of reviving all things ever ended for the good news that Jack Bauer is back.

Fox has decided that the character, who was played by Kiefer Sutherland for 9 seasons, needs to expand on his backstory.

As a result, the network is developing a prequel to the action series which will follow Bauer in his early days at the Counter Terrorism Unit.

24 showrunner, Howard Gordon, as well as the co-creators of the original series, Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran, are are involved and said to be working on the idea.

Whilst the original series featured 24 episodes per season — each depicting an hour of Bauer’s day — the prequel is likely not to follow the same format.

And, even more thrilling, Gordon has confirmed that a second 24 type series is in the works, revolving around a female prosecutor who has to race against the clock to save a death row inmate.

24 hours a day might just not be enough to watch them all!
