The Netflix streaming service has canceled the hit TV series Sense8 after only 2 seasons. This comes to a shock for Sense8 fans from around the world.

The sci-fi drama created by Lana and Lily Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski delivered everything and more that the show was meant to bring fans. Even Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP Original Content, said in a statement:

“It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kickass and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe, and Grant [Hill] for their vision and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment.”

The decision comes only a day after Netflix’s founder and CEO Reed Hastings stated that he thinks the streaming platform hasn’t canceled enough shows. “Our hit ratio is way too high right now. I’m always pushing the content team we have to take more risk, you have to try more crazy things because we should have a higher cancel rate overall.”

As well, the devastating announcement to cancel Sense8 came only one week after the cancellation of The Get Down, another popular series which only aired for 1 season. Sadly enough, it seems as though Reed Hastings is following through with his statements to boost the overall cancellation rate.
