With the recent departure of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the future for the Han Solo film was looking a bit bleak. Luckily, one of the most beloved directors of all time will step in to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Ron Howard has been chosen as a replacement for Lord and Miller. In response to the news being released, he tweeted, “I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.”

The former Happy Days star has earned praise for his work in television and film. He is one of few directors to earn an Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe, and an Emmy for their material. Howard already has a plethora of projects going on in the new few years, including a live-action adaptation of Curious George and a documentary on opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.

The currently untitled Han Solo film will be released on May 25, 2018. This is the second film in the Star Wars Anthology which began with Rogue One in 2016.

Star Wars fans are counting down the days for the next installment of the beloved franchise series titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which will hit theaters worldwide on December 15. This will be the final film to feature iconic star Carrie Fisher, who died from a heart attack last December.
