Comedian and writer Mindy Kaling has been quite busy over the past decade with her award-winning work on The Office and The Mindy Project. Soon, she’s set to take a little break to take care of her new bundle of joy.
The actress has confirmed that she’s pregnant with her very first child.
Mindy has expressed wanting kids in the past. In a 2015 interview with Yahoo, she stated, “I’m not cavalier about who I would have a kid with. But the thing I ask every parent that I really admire, the one comment they all have is that they wish they had kids earlier.”
The identity of the baby’s father and the gender of the child have not been released to the public yet. In the past, she dated former co-star B. J. Novak.
In 2005, Mindy became an instant star as Kelly Kapoor on the hit NBC sitcom The Office. Aside from acting, the Cambridge, Massachusetts native wrote 21 episodes of the series and directed two of them (“Body Language” and “Michael’s Last Dundies”). Overall, she received six Emmy nominations for her work on the show.
Starting on Tuesday, September 12, her series The Mindy Project will come to an end with its 10 episode farewell season. Originally airing on Fox for its first three seasons, the show found new life on streaming service Hulu.
Back in May, her new sitcom Champions was ordered by NBC. The series, which stars Workaholics actor Anders Holm, will make its way into the primetime schedule sometime in 2018.
Next year, Kaling will be a part of the science fantasy film A Wrinkle in Time and heist comedy Ocean’s Eight.
