Whether you love him or hate him, WWE superstar John Cena has become a sought after name in acting. His schedule is about to be a bit more full with a major movie announcement.

He’s set to take part of the upcoming Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, which is slated to be released on December 21, 2018.

The film follows a young girl named Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld) and her discovery of Bumblebee. Taking place 20 years before the first Transformers film, this will be the first spinoff for the Transformers movie franchise. It will also be the first film not directed by Michael Bay. Oscar-nominated Travis Knight, who is best known for his work in Kubo and the Two Strings, will take over the role.

The spinoff will be the follow up to The Last Knight, which was released back in June.

Over the past decade, John Cena has built an impressive acting resume. In 2006, he had his first lead role in The Marine, which took the number three spot in its first week in theaters. Some of his other memorable roles have been in The Hangover Part III, Trainwreck, and Daddy’s Home.

Last year, he started hosting reality show American Grit, which he also produces along with former Big Brother producer Jon Kroll.

Cena has been taking less time from the wrestling world to take on more acting roles. Aside from the Transformers spin-off, he has roles in Daddy’s Home 2, Ferdinand, and The Pact.

When it comes to his in-ring action, he’s had a productive 2017 so far. He tied Ric Flair for the most world championship reigns at the Royal Rumble and got engaged to his girlfriend Nikki Bella at Wrestlemania 33.
