A Fourth “The Matrix” Movie Starring Keanu Reeves is Coming

Get ready to re-enter The Matrix. 

That’s right! After a 16 year slumber, the hit cyber-action franchise is being rebooted is making a comeback with multiple outlets confirming that a fourth Matrix movie is coming. 

But we have more good news! The upcoming new installment will star original leads Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity. Also reprising her original role is co-creator, Lana Wachowski, will also return to write, direct and produce.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros Pictures Group. “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” added Wachowski. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

The Matrix series was launched in 1999, with the third (and now not last) movie hitting theaters in 2005. The trilogy has earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box office.
