Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, A League of Their Own, is getting a TV adaptation on Amazon. Now the plot and cast are shaping up.

Amazon has ordered a one-hour pilot. It will follow different characters than the movie but, like it, it will follow a group of women who join the All American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1943 during world war II.

Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), who will also write and executive produce the pilot, will portray Carson Shaw who chases her dream and goes to Chicago to play the game. D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place), who’s casting has been announced in November, will play Greta, an adventurous woman who likes to travel the world and also succeeds in the field.

Now, more members of the cast have been announced and include Chanté Adams (Bad Hair) who will play Max the pitcher with the incredible arm, Gbemisola Ikumelo (Famalam) who will play Clance, Max’s best friend who is an artist, Kelly McCormack who’ll play Jess, a Canadian who was born to play the game, Roberta Colindrez will portray Mita, a cool Texan pitcher, Priscilla Delgado who’ll portray Izzy, a young enthusiastic Cuban, and Melanie Field, set to have a recurring role as Jo, a power hitter from Queens and Greta’s best friend.
