Get ready to party like it’s 1975.

Fans of The 1975 have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of June 1st—a date on which the English band have often chosen to release new music.

And this year did not disappoint.

The date is significant as the band’s name is inspired by the back page of On the Road by Jack Kerouac which was dated “1 June, The 1975”. To mark the occasion this year, black and white posters featuring frontman Matt Healy and the date “7 July” began to appear.

Back in February, the “Frail State of Mind” rockers hinted that new material was on its way by deactivating their social media accounts and changing their official website to a blank white page. The practice has become somewhat of a tradition for The 1975 who erased their entire social media presence before announcing their last three albums.

As expected, the quartet’s Instagram and Twitter accounts both came to life on the first day of June as they confirmed their forthcoming fifth album.

“Your new album. Your new era. Your old friends. The 1975,” the announcement read.

Although no title has been revealed, we have a good feeling that it will be available on July 7.
