A brand new Doctor Who audio series is on its way and Christopher Eccleston is set to star.

Eccleston first played the Doctor 15 years ago. He is the doctor that got a new generation hooked on the sci-fi series. Now, Eccleston will be reprising his role as the 9th doctor in a brand new audio series.

The series is a collaboration between Big Finish and BBC Studios. It’s titled Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures and it will contain 12 stories.

“I first talked to Christopher about returning to the role of the Doctor at a fan convention in February this year,” Big Finish chairman Jason Haigh-Ellery said in a statement. “Christopher said he was enjoying meeting the fans and was pleased that his Doctor was remembered so fondly.

“I am so pleased that Christopher has decided to return to the role with us – and I’m excited to welcome him to the Big Finish family as we discover the new adventures of the Ninth Doctor.”

Eccleston also shared that he is excited to reprise his role: “After 15 years, it will be exciting to revisit the Ninth Doctor’s world, bringing back to life a character I love playing.”

The first volume of Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures will be released in May 2021.
