Following a strong box-office performance of A Quiet Place Part II, plans for the third installment have already been put in motion. According to multiple reports, the next film in the franchise will arrive on March 31st, 2023.

The movie won’t follow the story from the first two entries, rather focusing on the expansion of the A Quiet Place universe. It will be based on the idea of director John Krasinski, but he won’t be returning to the same role. Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Mud) will step in to helm the project and will also serve as a writer.

The third entry in the franchise is believed to be still in the early stages of development. Krasinski did, however, tell Rotten Tomatoes’ Erik Davis that Nichols already handed the first draft of the script.

Co-written and directed by Krasinski, A Quiet Place became a surprise hit when it first came out in 2018. It received universal critical acclaim and earned $341 million compared to just a $21 million budget, prompting the studio to immediately start working on the sequel.

Krasinksi and most of the cast from the original came back for A Quiet Place Part II, which received a worldwide theatrical release in May. The movie set several post-pandemic records and has been getting positive reviews.
