The supervillains are coming. A new movie is set to join the never-ending Marvel universe, but this one won’t have you rooting for the heroes to save the day.

According to Deadline, early development is underway on a film about the Thunderbolts.

Not to be confused with the Thunderbirds or the Thundercats (or any weather-related entity, for that matter), the Thunderbolts first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997. Although originally presented as a team of super-powered figures who became heroes to help protect the world after the Avengers were declared dead, it was later revealed that they were, in fact, the Masters of Evil in disguise. Dun dun dun.

Some of these anti-heroes have already shown up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These include Belova, played by Florence Pugh in Black Widow and Hawkeye; Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp; Abomination from The Incredible Hulk, brought to life by Tim Roth; Taskmaster who Olga Kurylenko portrayed in Black Widow.

In the comics, Baron Helmut Zero is the leader of the supervillain group. Known as one of Captain America’s adversaries, he is played by The Alienist actor, Daniel Brühl, in the MCU.

No casting information for the Thunderbolts film has been revealed as yet, but Paper Towns director, Jake Schreier, is expected to helm the project. Black Widow writer, Eric Pearson, will pen the screenplay.
