Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7” Adds to Cast, Gets Release Date

Aaron Sorkin’s sophomore directorial effort gets a limited release on September 25, 2020, before opening wide on October 2, 2020. 

The film, The Trial of the Chicago 7, adds Michael Keaton, William Hurt (Goliath, Avengers) and JC MacKenzie (The Irishman, The Departed) to its cast.

The three join the previously announced ensemble cast, which includes Frank Langella, Mark Rylance, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeremy Strong, Alex Sharp, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 tells the events of the 1969 trial of the 7 defendants charged with conspiracy following the Chicago protests that followed the 1968  Democratic National Convention. 

Keaton is set to play real-life progressive lawyer and prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, Ramsey Clark.
