Abbott Elementary is one of the most refreshing new shows of the past year and it’s finally getting credit where credit is due. The list of TCA Awards winners is in and ABC comedy absolutely crushed it, leading the way with a total of four awards.
Abbott Elementary walked away with four out of five awards it was nominated for including the program of the year. It had to beat the likes of Better Call Saul, Hacks, Severance, Squid Game, Succession, The White Lotus, and Yellowjackets to win the biggest award of the night.
It also came out victorious in three more categories—outstanding achievement in comedy, individual achievement in comedy (Quinta Brunson), and outstanding new program. The critically acclaimed sitcom practically won all the awards it was nominated for because Janelle James lost the award for individual achievement in comedy to her co-star Brunson.
Abbott Elementary will get a chance to repeat its success from TCA Awards at the upcoming Emmys, where it scored several major nominations, including outstanding comedy series, outstanding writing for a comedy series, and acting nods for its stars Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
The 38th Television Critics Association Awards were announced on August 6, without an in-person ceremony.
