Following the fantastic night that Abbott Elementary had at this year’s Golden Globes, it was just a matter of time before it was renewed, and that moment came just a few hours after the ceremony. The acclaimed ABC sitcom is officially coming back for its third season!

Abbott Elementary premiered on ABC in 2021, and it centers on a group of school teachers brought together by their love for educating young underprivileged students in one of Philadelphia’s severely underfunded public schools.

Quinta Brunson, who created the series for ABC, plays one of the lead roles, while the rest of the show’s ensemble cast includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and William Stanford Davis.

Channing Dungey, chairman, and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group confirmed the show’s renewal and congratulated the cast and the crew for their recent successes.

“Each week, this talented group of artists celebrates true unsung heroes — public school teachers… Abbott Elementary is the gift that keeps on giving, and I look forward to many more magnificent episodes of this brilliant, authentic, and just plain funny series,” said Dungey in a statement.

The show’s renewal comes shortly after it won three Golden Globes at this year’s ceremony, including best television series – musical or comedy.
