The fifth season of The Conners recently wrapped up on ABC, and the show’s future is looking bright. The popular sitcom has been renewed for its sixth season on Tuesday, along with another eight ABC shows.

The Conners has been developed as a spinoff of the popular 90s series Roseanne, but it shifted the focus to other characters after Roseanne Barr departed the series. Many of the original stars returned for the sequel, including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, and Emma Kenney.

The renewal of The Conners doesn’t come as a shocker since it’s one of ABC’s highest-rated sitcoms. The show’s ratings significantly dropped since its first season, but its numbers are still strong, with its latest season averaging around 3.8 million viewers.

Executive producer Bruce Helford previously hinted that Season 6 might be the show’s last, but ABC is yet to address these comments.

“Sara Gilbert expressed to the network that we don’t want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending – and at this point in time, we feel that [next season] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners,” he told TV Line.

In addition to The Conners, ABC renewed another eight shows on Tuesday, including The Bachelor, American Idol, and Shark Tank, among others.
