Kevin Hart might just be irreplaceableā€¦

The Jumanji: Welcome to the JungleĀ star was announced last week as the host of the 2018 Oscars.

The reveal was met with consternation by some who felt that remarks which the comedian had made in previous stand-up routines were unacceptable.

Three days later, the 39-year-old resigned from the role and offered an apology to the LGBTQ community which h had offended.

The incident once again left The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences searching for a master of ceremonies for its 91st ceremony which will be held on the 24th of February.

With The Academy reportedly ā€œgun shy about going with someone, anyone who might be too edgyā€, according to Variety, it might just decide to not have any host at all.

While the Academy Awards has always had a host throughout its 91 years, shows like the Golden Globes make do without, allowing various stars to introduce different categories and announce the winners.

With no backup host having been put in place, time will tell which route The Academy decides to goā€¦
