Action Comedy “My Spy” Could Be Getting a Sequel

Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman in "My Spy"

My Spy wasn’t in theaters for long enough to become a box office hit, but its viewership numbers were apparently pretty impressive after it became available on Prime Video. That’s why Amazon and STX are currently considering a sequel to this action comedy.

My Spy centered on a hardened CIA operative (Dave Bautista) who finds himself at the mercy of a 9-year-old girl (Chloe Coleman), after being sent undercover to surveil her family. The cast also included Kristen Schaal, Parisa Fitz-Henley, and Ken Jeong.

Not much is known about the potential sequel at the moment, but Deadline reported that Amazon is in early talks to develop it “given the success of the original on Prime Video.” STX Entertainment would also come back on board if the sequel gets the green light

My Spy had a theatrical release in Australia, Japan, and several other countries, but never made it to the theaters in the U.S.. After movie theater closures in mid-March, its April 17th premiere date was canceled, and it was released digitally on Prime Video on June 26th.
