The highly-anticipated superhero flick Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which serves as a sequel to 2018’s box office hit Venom, is scheduled to hit theaters on September 24th. Until then, however, you can enjoy the brand new action-packed trailer that Sony just shared with the fans.

The trailer hints at the origins of Carnage, an alien symbiote who possesses serial murder Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) and serves as the movie’s main villain.

In one scene shown in the clip, journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) visits Kasady in prison and gets bitten by him during a brief chat. After this event, Kasady becomes the host of Carnage and escapes prison using his powers. This leads to the conclusion that Brock’s alien symbiote-infested blood spawned Carnage, although we will have to wait for the full movie to see whether this is true.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we get an insight into Brock and Venom’s attempts to learn to live together. Also, we witness mayhem and destruction that ensures when Kasady and Carnage find their way to the outside world.

Check out the trailer below.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis and based on a story by Tom Hardy and screenwriter Kelly Marcel. The movie is set to introduce several new characters from the comics, including Kasady’s love interest Frances Barrison, who will be portrayed by Naomie Harris. The character of Barrison is better known for her alter-ego Shriek. The cast also features Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham.
