Adam Shankman is set to direct the sequel to the 1993 cult classic.
Variety was first to report that the Hairspray director will helm the Hocus Pocus sequel set at Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. Workaholics writer and co-producer Jen D’Angelo penned the screenplay.
The original film starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as three witch sisters who were inadvertently resurrected only to discover to their horror that Halloween has become a holiday.
According to the outlet, the three are not attached to the sequel, but Disney is hopeful that they will become involved in some capacity.
