It’s been over a decade since Adele dropped one of her biggest hits “Set Fire to the Rain”, and its popularity is yet to fade away. Almost 12 years after its release, this song crossed one billion streams on Spotify, becoming Adele’s sixth song to do so.

Adele previously joined the billion streams club with “Someone Like You”, “Hello”, “Rolling in the Deep”, “Easy On Me”, and “When We Were Young”, and seeing “Set Fire to the Rain” cross this number is a huge milestone. Adele now joins Ariana Grande as the only female artist to have six solo songs surpass a billion streams on Spotify.

“Set Fire to the Rain” was released as the third single from Adele’s second studio album 21 in 2011. It became her third consecutive No. 1 single on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top ten all around the world.

Adele described “Set Fire to the Rain” as a song about “burning the pain” of a broken relationship, adding it’s all about liberation. She never released an official music video for this track, but her live performance at the Royal Albert Hall received over 700 million views on YouTube and won her a Grammy Award for best pop solo performance.
