It took the producers six months, but they’ve definitely come to the right conclusion — a sequel to the 2019 live-action adaptation of the animated classic, Aladdin, is a must!

Multiple outlets confirm Aladdin 2 is officially in the works at Disney.

The project is in early development, but it is known that Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the original, will be back producing through their Rideback banner, with Ryan Halprin executive producing.

It is unknown if Guy Ritchie will return to direct, and according to Variety, offers to the film’s stars, Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott, won’t be extended until the script is written.

2019’s Aladdin was a massive hit and became the fourth film to cross the billion-dollar global box office milestone.
