The Recording Academy recently unveiled its list of inductees for the Grammy Hall of Fame, and some of the most legendary artists working today made the cut. Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Patti Smith, and Beastie Boys’ debut albums are all among this year’s inductees.

In an official statement announcing their choices for this year, the Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said it’s an honor to add these recordings that had “a significant impact on our culture” to their distinguished catalog.

“We are proud to announce this year’s diverse roster of Grammy Hall of Fame inductees and to recognize recordings that have shaped our industry and inspire music makers of tomorrow,” stated Mason Jr.

In addition, this year’s list of inductees includes Joe Cocker, Dr. John, and Peter Gabriel. Several iconic singles from the 70s also made the cut, including “Y.M.C.A.” by Village People and “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers.

The Grammy Hall of Fame honors musical recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance and it currently includes 1,142 recordings.
